Editorial . October . 2014

In this issue of ECS NEPAL we present a darker side to the monkey-god, Hanuman. In our cover story writer Abhishek Mishra goes on a quest around the city to unearth the intrigue surrounding Hanuman and presents what he uncovered. This issue will also take you close to the Israeli community in Nepal, who will be celebrating the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur as the rest of Nepal celebrates Dashain. Writer Kapil Bisht’s feature on the Chyasilin Mandap will take you through the past and the present of this iconic structure located inside the Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Our photo story this month is a fun flip. The culture of caricature and crazy costumes is not foreign to Nepal. We have our own fancy-dress party, Nepal’s best kept secret – the Handigaon Gala.

Go to our Adventure section and pick from a list of adventure activities that you can explore, or read through singer Amrit Gurung’s recollection of Pokhara he grew up in, in a brand new section dedicated to the lake city.
As you enjoy the festivities this month, we hope you also share this copy of ECS NEPAL with your family and friends.
We wish you a month of jovial festivities!
